Consequently, the Palestinian health centers struggle to compete with the Israeli facilities while lacking the financial support that enables the provision of developed health services.

The Health sector lacks services for mental health, rehabilitation and treatment of drug addicts. There also exists a lack of coordination and communication between health care providers, and an absence of qualified human resources in certain specialized health fields.

There are four major health care providers in Jerusalem:

• UNRWA. This organization provides health services for refugees
• The private sector which takes a more prominent role in regard to the Israeli insurance system
• The NGO sector which mainly covers primary health care
• The charity sector which provides specialized services such has rehabilitation, hospital services and some mental health centers.
