Through out the years, the Faisal Husseini Foundation worked in the Health sector by supporting the Old City Counseling centers which gives various treatment and counseling services to the Palestinian population living in the city Also, the Foundation in an attempt to unify and strengthen their efforts in serving the health sector in Jerusalem The FHF and the Friends of East Jerusalem Hospitals (FEJH) merged. |

FEJH became the health working committee at the FHF, which adopted the objectives of the FEJH in serving the health sector in Jerusalem, namely:
The Jerusalem hospitals network: a network of 6 hospitals located in East Jerusalem. These are: Makassed Islamic Charitable Hospital (220 beds):located in Mt of Olives and is a general hospital which was established in 1956 and contains 220 beds. It should be mentioned that it is the only hospital that has a cardiologic and heart surgery department in the W Bank and Gaza. Augusta Victoria Hospital (100 beds): located in Mt of Olives and is a general hospital which was established in 1950 and contains 100 beds. It is the only hospital in the W bank that has a dialysis department and a cancer treatment centre. St. John's Ophthalmic Hospital (70 beds): located in Sheikh Jarrah and established in 1882 and contains 70 beds and is the only ophthalmic hospital in the West Bank St. Joseph Hospital (70 beds): located in Sheikh Jarrah and established in 1948 and contains 70 beds and is known for neurological surgery. Palestine Red Crescent Maternity Hospital (30 beds): established in 1953 and located in the Suwaneh neighbourhood and contains 30 beds and is specialized for deliveries. Princess Basma Center for Disabled Children (including 20 children rehabilitation beds): established in 1965, located in the Mt of Olives and contains 20 beds. The hospital offers physiotherapy services for handicapped children – the centre also houses a special school to train physically handicapped children. |
