| On December 6th, the Faisal Husseini Youth Award held an orientation program for the fourth group of new participants. The program was held for participants of various backgrounds belonging to 6 different schools across the city which are:
It included ice-breaking activities led by Dr. Ghanem
Yaacoubi, to facilitate communication between the different groups of
students. Mr. Mazen Jabari and Ms. Manar Idris of the Youth Development Department assisted in carrying out the program's objectives. Thirty-eight participants attended the program. The participants' record books were given out during the orientation program in order to encourage them and make it easier for them to begin their program of choice. The FHYA management decided to hold a separate orientation program for participants from Sour-Baher, a suburb of Jerusalem, due to its location which is a good distance form the city of Jerusalem. Their orientation program will be held on January 3rd, 2009. The FHYA management also decided to hold an additional orientation program for the 18 participants who could not attend the December 6th program from St. Dimitri High School and others due to their school schedules. This program will be shorter and more concise. It will be held at Al-Quds Club in Jerusalem. On December 17th, the FHYA management visited the Equestrian Club in Jericho in order to organize the second part of the orientation program for new participants aiming at introducing participants to different kinds of sports and recreational activities. |

A small projects program was launched as part of the
services program in order to assist certain FHYA participants in launching
their services section and/ or completing service hours. The first small
project/ "December" project was decided by participants themselves
through a brainstorming session facilitated by a FHYA leader. Local
needs were taken into consideration and specifically the needs of local
schools and other institutions. |
