In addition, it is of vital importance to develop social services and programs which work towards eliminating the free time and devoting youth energy positively. The Faisal Husseini Foundation has designed a program with Caritas – Jerusalem to better support the youth sector of East Jerusalem and to contribute in the elimination of the use of drugs. "The Old City counseling center" which is supervised by Caritas is currently executing the program. The program includes both counseling and treatment of drug addicts, in addition to a prevention program directed to youth at schools and youth centers. Sponsorship of sports teams, scouts and Dabkeh teams: There are many youth centers that are going through financial difficulties, especially during this hard economic period. Part of the problem is the lack of official sponsors for these centers, and the inability to depend on private memberships as most of them do not have an income. Accordingly, most of the teams following these centers have no financial assistance; however, they remain the only outlet for youth in Jerusalem, and play a positive and vital role in society.
