2003 Progress Report
Comprehensive school reform:
The idea of this project and the method of its implementation
depend mainly on the participation of the school community including
administration, teachers, students and parents who will together create
visions to become excellent schools.
The foundation started implementing this program in two schools namely
Jabal Al Mukabber School and Fata Laji'a Secondary School. The foundation
aims at implementing this program in the other schools gradually.
The foundation tailored a training course for 30 teachers in 10 schools
on setting school visions and strategic planning
Jabal Al-Mokabber School’s Project:
Development includes:
- Re-dividing the ground floor, strengthening electrical power, establishing
a central heating system, and painting.
- Setting up a library.
- Setting up a computer lab.
- Establishing a Center for students with learning disabilities.
Al-Fatah Al-Laji'a Secondary School's Project:
- Training teachers in learning disabilities.
- Renovating the computer lab and purchasing 17 new computers.
- Adding music lessons in the curriculum.
- Adding drama lessons I he curriculum.
- Adding extra classes to help low achievers.
- Adding creative thinking and innovation classes.
Small and urgent support:
Providing equipment to the following schools:
- Al-Fatah Al-Laji'a C (a computer and a video).
- Al-Ommeh Secondary school (photocopy machine).
- Al-sheikh Sa’d school (photocopy machine).
- Al- Bayrouni school
Renovating the following schools:
- Plastering the ceiling of Al-Rawda Al-Hadeetha School's.
- Renovating library at Al-Ommeh Secondary school.
Providing programs in the following schools:
- Adding creative thinking and innovation classes in Dar Al Aytam
primary school.
- Providing extra classes to support low achievers at Al-Shiekh S’ad
school.
Providing extra curricular activities at schools:
- Organizing an event for handicapped day.
- Issuing a magazine for students in about Jerusalem under the title
“ Nakhla Al-Shiber discovers Jerusalem” .
- Organizing a summer camp for Dar Al-Aytam schools.
