2005 Progress Report

1- On-going work with model schools:

This program focuses on ten of the Palestinian Public schools that are distinguished from the other schools in terms of good administrative capabilities, human resources, and facilities. Despite their distinguished resources from those of other public schools, yet

 
   
these ten schools lack many facilities and programs needed to improve their performance. Therefore, the Foundation designed and implemented this program to better serve these schools.
FHF worked with the following schools during the year 2005:
Jabal Al Mukkaber, Fata Laji'a Secondary School and the Arrawda Al-Haditha School.

   

Project in Jabal Al Mukabber School:

FHF supported the school through:

  • Computer training for teachers, thus activating the computer lab that was established last year.
  • Continuation of support to cover swimming lessons.
  • Adding Display boards to educational supporting materials.
 
     

Project in Fata Laji'a Secondary School:

  • Facilities upgrading works: including equipping a computer lab with 17 new computers in addition to refurbishment of the furniture, a computer lab for the teachers including 6 new computers, as well as adding a divider to create more space for this lab, and upgrading of teachers' room.
  • Upgrading of educational supporting methods: including new boards at the school in addition to a number of display and storage cabinets.
   

2- Program to save Dar Al-Aytam Schools

  • Islamic Dar Al-Aytam School A
  • Completion of phase one of school renovation.
  • Completion of teachers training program and strengthening weak students

Dar Al Aytam Secondary School:

The school is located in the Old City of Jerusalem and serves grades 10-12 with an overall number of 234 students. FHF assisted the school by providing academic performance strengthening programs for weak Tawjihi students.


   

3- Program for the development of creative thinking and technology -

implementation initiated in two schools, Dar Al Aytam "D" School and Al Fata Al laji'a Secondary School.

 

   

4- The 2005 award: the award is given to ten outstanding students from Dar Al Aytam schools and is limited to male students only in grades 8-10. This category of students was selected in an attempt to improve the level of the disadvantaged Dar Al Aytam schools in Jerusalem in terms of facilities, educational programs, and their students are in need of a lot of motivation. The award was a one-week trip to France on a cultural, recreational, and scientific program. The trip was organized in cooperation with the Youth Development Department on one hand and the municipality of Saint Nazer on the other.

   
   

Support of extra-curriculum activities:

Support of a number of general orientation and objectives Summer camps held at these schools. Technological camp targeting outstanding students, who have a desire to develop their knowledge in this field.
