| The education sector has been suffering throughout 43 years of occupation. Today the City is left with a lack of at least 1500 classrooms. The schools are overcrowded, and at some the student has no more than 0.5 meters of personal space, where 3 students share one desk. 60% of the schools lack sun protective sheds, 50% lack playgrounds and many lack computer labs, science labs, libraries and health services. 6000 students and more than 650 teachers come daily through the isolation wall, where they sometimes stay for hours till they reach their schools. Supporting activities in benefit of this sector are needed today. Renovation of schools, adding school facilities such as computers, science labs and libraries, in addition to providing the needed furniture and supporting the recurrent expenses are of high importance. We call upon all who are interested in supporting the education sector in Jerusalem to join our campaign under the title ‘walk for education 2”. It is worth mentioning that this is our second walk for this purpose. With the support of many we were able to help four schools in Jerusalem namely Rawdat al Zuhur school, Al Nithamiyeh school, Um Tuba School and Dar Al Aytam Al Thory school through the proceeds of the first campaign. We are hoping that you can support us with this second campaign to be able to reach more schools. (For information on the first walk please go to our facebook group “Support Education in Jerusalem’.) Aim of the walk: The walk for education aims at raising awareness about the risks which face the education sector in Jerusalem and to financially support five schools in the City and its surrounding.
